Thank you Jennifer Ouellette for coming with the williant idea (Witty+brilliant idea), of Talk Like A Physicist back when the only cool people in the world were pirates.

Talk Likea a Physicist Day. Choose your favorite frame of reference, collapse your wavefunction, and estimate your error bars — we have a highly nontrivial day ahead of us. After years of contemplation, Talk Like a Physicist Day is finally here, as predicted. (Falsifiably!)…

Beauty redefined: According to my preliminary observations, the current 24-hour period is Talk Like a Physicist Day! The day coincides with the anniversary of the birth of one Albert Einstein, as well as the day on which we celebrate the transcental number ?. Under the assumption that I am not a physicist, it would be necessary to use a perturbative approach to alter my speech patterns to more closely match that of other physicists.

Physicality of Words : Talk Like a physicist : Because I have friends who understand what I mean, I have the habit of asking people for their boundary conditions when I want to make plans together with them. And when i didn’t know the English word “slide” at the playground, I asked what to call the thing that is like an inclined plane. Some think that’s funny.

everyday phenomena that can be described using mathematical models, like the analogy of moving traffic to a compression wave or the pseudo-forces that you can experience while moving in a non-inertial frames (aka, riding in a bus that is turning corners). If that is not up your alley, why not at least try playing some physics games or simulations?.. more

While today was chosen because it is Albert Einstein’s birthday, I really think that the goal was to take some attention away from those media-hogging mathematicians and their Pi Day fête.

Any actual personal experience becomes “empirical data.” i.e. a burn on your hand is empirical data that the stove is hot.
You’re not being lazy, you are in your ground state.
